Hi there! It’s Stacie here! Spring in Northern Minnesota has a specific smell and sound….the sound would be of flowing water and wood frogs singing. The smell….is of the Balsam Poplar buds thick with fragrant resin. They grow along the rivers edge and remind me of the beavers busy working and the fact that they LOVE these trees. I gathered the Populas balsamifera buds and infused them in oil (grapeseed and sunflower). I hope to switch to just sunflower being this (or bear fat) is what the Ojibwe would’ve used to make this sort of remedy.
